SSLPPA Leadership Team for 2022-2023

  • Raelene Wehyreter

    Sunrise Lake

Raelene was born and raised on Long Island, NY. She worked as a property accountant for a real estate development company for many years before settling down to raise a family.
Raelene’s parents purchased their original camp, “Vermont House,” on Sunrise Lake 50 years ago. Every summer since then has been spent swimming, fishing, boating, and catching frogs (which they name and let go). Sunrise Lake holds a very special place in all of their hearts.

  • Andy Snyder

    Sunrise/Sunset

Andy has been a farmer, organizer, recreation therapist, teacher, state legislator, bureaucrat…among many other things. Throughout it all, Andy has been a mud pusher (otherwise known as a potter). “Without my commitment to my art, I can’t imagine what I would have been able to accomplish!”
Andy grew up on a certain island in New York but has lived in Vermont since childhood, mostly in Florence. He lives between Sunrise and Sunset and maintains his pottery studio on site. Andy departs for St. Petersburg, Florida for winter months.

  • Joel Bartfield

    Sunset

Joel Bartfield lives in the Albany, New York area with his wife Andrea. They have had a camp on Sunset Lake since 2018 and generally spend long weekends in Vermont throughout the season. They both value and work to preserve the environment and the health of our incredible water resources. They can often be seen paddling, swimming, biking, and generally enjoying Sunset Lake and the surrounding area.
Joel is an Emergency Physician and Dean for Graduate Medical Education at Albany Medical Center.

  • Mark Johnston

    Sunset Lake

Mark is a retired veterinarian from upstate New York. Mark's wife Nancy first introduced Mark to Sunset Lake when they were dating. Mark enjoys spending as much time as possible enjoying the lake with Nancy and family with a kayak or paddleboard.

Mark keeps a close eye out for Eurasion millfoil in the lake. He is very interested in the resident loon population. Along with others, Mark is trying to get resolution to the Sunset Lake road’s dirty water runoff and resulting pollution of the lakes that occurs along the Northeast shoreline .

  • Carolyn Rowan

    Sunset Lake

Newly retired after 35 years of teaching I’m happy to become a board member serving as the secretary. Like the rest of our Sunrise/Sunset residents I love being on and in the water, walking/hiking and boating . Our family has enjoyed the lake for 73 years- 4 generations!

  • Megan McCabe

    Perch Pond

Megan McCabe is a retired Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Albany, N.Y. Growing up in a large family who spent summers on the shores of Lake George and Saratoga Lake searching for a lake home in a peaceful setting became a sought after goal. Perch Pond was the ideal spot and a home was purchased with husband Ken Kroopnick in 2018. They are frequently joined for weekends of biking, hiking, swimming, and kayaking by their sons from NYC and Boston. They all share a commitment to the environment and maintaining the special area around the lakes and pond.

  • Jori Jacobeit

Jori Jacobeit lives nearby in Shoreham, Vermont and enjoys year-round fun at her family's Perch Pond retreat.  In addition to teaching high school French, Jori is an avid runner, gardener, forager and hiker.  Her family enjoys exploring all that the Ponds Woods has to offer, including the wide variety of birds we get to glimpse near our lakes.  Happy to be part of the board's essential work of protecting these precious resources.

  • Amanda Rohdenburg

Amanda is a long-time staff member at Outright Vermont, the owners of Camp Sunrise as of 2024. Amanda stewards that land with care and vision to hold all the big queer dreams of this generation of young people and the next. In her free time, Amanda loves making food from scratch - she has a sourdough starter that’s been bubbling for nearly 100 years!
