Lake Committee:

Invasive Species Committee

Background:

Our lakes have been touched by both invasive and nuisance aquatic species. They are detrimental to the enjoyment of the lakes, as well as to native plants and aquatic species. We need to be vigilant to prevent infiltration by these species.

Goals:

  • Educate Lake communities on safe practices (such as boat washing) to prevent the spread of invasive species.

  • Liaise with the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds and other like-minded organizations to gather data and expertise on control of invasive species.

  • Create subcommittees on each lake (pond) to address best practices.
