Loon Preservation Committee

Background:

Sunset Lake and the other lakes play host to loons every summer. Loons will only nest under perfect circumstances, and it would be a good project to try to encourage a nesting pair to make their home on one of our lakes, probably Sunset or Sunrise as they have more undeveloped shoreline.

Goals:

• Work with the state of Vermont in collecting information about loons on our lakes.

• Work with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and the Vermont Loon Project to discuss viability to establish a breeding pair on Sunset Lake.

• If agreed upon, work to provide the necessary conditions for such.
